Who I Am...

Brian Richotte is in his third season as the University of Detroit Mercy’s assistant track and field coach for the throwing events.

As an athlete, Richotte is a 9-time USA Track and Field Championships qualifier. He participated in the 2008 Olympic Trials and is currently training for the 2012 Olympic Trials. Richotte finished his collegiate career as a 2-time NCAA All-American with 7 individual conference championships and multiple school, meet and conference records.

During his coaching tenure, UDM has produced 10 All-Horizon League performers, three Horizon League Champions, 8 marks on the top 10 list, and Horizon League Co-Athlete of the Year.

Last season, Richotte guided Brittany Horne to two conference championships in the Horizon League. Her mark of 201’-1" ranked 14th in NCAA Division I, set a new school, meet and Horizon League conference record. Under Richotte’s watchful eye, Horne enjoyed one of the most successful season in Titans history. She became the first Titan to win an event at The Penn Relays; her rank of 14th is the highest ranking ever by a female athlete at UDM. Additionally, Horne was named the 2010 Horizon League Outdoor Field Performer of the Year as well as the 2010 Co-Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Year.

Richotte’s throwers fared well in the 2009 season as they placed in the top-six in every event at the outdoor championships, topping 5 All-Horizon League performances and 1 conference champion.
